There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all global HR system.
I recently supported JCB International Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., Manila Branch as the organisation prepared for its next stage of growth.
As the business expanded, the expectations placed on employees evolved as well. Rather than simply applying a Japanese HR system overseas or adopting local practices entirely, the focus was on designing a system that integrated the strengths of both approaches.
An equally important part of the project was listening carefully to local employees and equipping managers with the skills to implement the new system effectively through practical training.
This is a lesson that extends far beyond one organisation. The strongest global HR systems are those that remain true to the company’s principles while reflecting the realities of the local workforce. Finding that balance is what enables organisations to grow sustainably across borders.
