Now that Global Lessons: A Page from Modern Japanese Human Resources Management has officially been released, I wanted to share some thoughts on why I chose to write the English edition of 「グローバル企業のための新日本型人材マネジメントのすすめ」.
Many of the talent challenges organisations face today are shared across markets. Questions around development, retention, and alignment between headquarters and local teams continue to surface regardless of geography.
What differs is often the way these challenges are approached.
Japanese HR practices are frequently viewed through a narrow lens. But at their core, they offer perspectives grounded in long-term development, capability building, and closer alignment between employees and organisational needs.
The intention behind this edition was to bring those perspectives into a broader global conversation, not as a model to replicate, but as a way to rethink how organisations design and manage talent today.
I’ve shared more in the blog below, and I would truly value your thoughts after reading.
