Growing up and in my earlier years, my appetite for reading was quite strong.

Whether it was diving into the depths of HR practices, exploring the ancient wisdom of philosophy, or reading up on the complexities of history, books were my gateways to untold knowledge and worlds.

These texts were my teachers outside the conventional classrooms and workspaces, guiding me through lessons not just for academic or professional growth, but for life itself.

Books possess that transformative power. They play a pivotal role in molding our character and personality. Among the countless titles that have left a mark on me, one long favorite stands out for its profound impact: “Bushido: The Soul of Japan” by Inazo Nitobe.

This gem dives into the heart of Japanese culture, exploring the ethos of Bushido, or the way of the warrior – the Sumarai. It interprets how the code of conduct for Samurai goes beyond the battlefield to influence the very fabric of Japanese society and personal conduct.

At its core, “Bushido” is about honor, discipline, morality, and a deep respect for the beauty of life. It’s a reminder of the values that can elevate our personal and professional lives, advocating for integrity, courage.
On the occasion of World Book Day today, here’s a reminder of the power of reading – and a small recommendation from me!
