Minami Family HR System: Edition 6 – Goals Need Follow Up
This month I focused on the goals we had set earlier.
When I asked my kids what actions they were taking to reach their KPIs, they suddenly realized they had not done much. Setting the goal was easy. Remembering it and acting on it was harder.
It reminded me of something we often see in business. Teams set objectives at the beginning of the year. Then the daily tasks take over and the bigger goals are forgotten. By the time the year ends, it becomes difficult to catch up.
The learning here is simple: goals only work if we check in on them. Not once at the start but regularly. Every few months we need to look back at what we committed to, review progress and adjust. Without this, even well-set goals do not move forward.
It may not sound new but sometimes even the basics need practice.
