I recently had the honor of returning to Florida International University, my alma mater, to present to the Master of Science in Human Resource Management, Cohort 45. As a proud member of Cohort 10, it’s incredible to see how far the program has come in 17 years!

My presentation, “Global Lessons: A Page from Modern Japanese Human Resources Management,” sparked lively and insightful discussions. With around 30 curious minds in the class—a mix of part-timers balancing work and studies, and enthusiastic full-time students fresh out of undergrad – the atmosphere was curious and, frankly, impressive.

The level of engagement was simply outstanding. They actively listened, asked questions, and were deeply curious about the intricacies of Japanese HR practices. It was impressive to see their passion and curiosity about whether these strategies could be applied in the US and other countries.

One thing that truly moved me was the students’ attitudes. Their thirst for knowledge and eagerness to learn left a lasting impression on me.

Thank you, Cohort 45, for such a memorable experience. Your dedication and enthusiasm are truly inspiring!

Thank you Juan I. Sanchez, Ph.D. for this opportunity!
