It’s been a year since my book, 「グローバル企業のための新日本型人材マネジメントのすすめ」 Global Lessons: A Page from Modern Japanese Human Resources Management, was released.

What began as a reflection on 25+ years of cross-cultural HRM experience has become a wider conversation. Over the past year I’ve heard from CXOs, executives and HR professionals who said the cases felt real, the people-first approach practical and the perspective uniquely relevant for today’s challenges.

What encouraged me most were the reactions from Japanese leaders who told me they recognized their own practices reflected in ways they hadn’t seen written before and from global leaders who found lessons they could apply immediately in their own organizations.

One year on, the message feels even more urgent: if your business is run by humans, your management systems must be built for humans.
