I recently had the pleasure of hosting a panel discussion with Tsutomu Kato.
As the Corporate Officer of Global HR at MISUMI USA, Kato-san and I had great discussions about the real situations of HR management in other countries. Drawing on both our experiences, we even spoke about some of the ways we should cope with it.
My suggestion?
Agility is your best friend. Leaders get lost in the idea of “these are the ways that we have always done things” and “these are the ways that others do it”. Whilst its good to take inspiration from success, you can’t make that your whole strategy; it needs to be adapted and modified to fit into the times, needs, goals, and aims of each organization.
I also introduced my recent book, which delves into modern Japanese HRM, highlighting the fusion of traditional values with global strategies.
A big thank you to MISUMI USA and Tsutomu Kato for their collaboration and to all attendees for the engaging discussions. It’s inspiring to see how we can collectively shape the future of HR.
Looking forward to continuing this journey of learning and collaboration!
